Ibiza in September-October 2026: closings, sunset and end of season

By the owner of Bambino Ibiza, 5 years on the island, guide written from inside the last season.

Dear Ibiza. Thank you for accepting me. Thank you for showing me your best and worst sides. Thank you for helping me grow and proving to me that anything is possible if you believe in it. You can be whoever you want on this island, and that's what makes it both dangerous and incredibly rewarding. The island either accepts you or it doesn't. And when it does, you can't help but love it in every way.

September and October are one of those facets. Perhaps the most honest. The one that only the lucky ones truly see.

Ibiza in September and October 2026: the island that finally breathes

Every year, at the beginning of September, the island's regulars exchange a knowing smile. Because they know: the best of Ibiza begins when the August crowds depart. Seas still at 25°C, beaches that are back, terraces where there's no more waiting, sunsets that finally arrive at dinnertime… and to top it all off, the closing parties, those last nights that bring together all the island's partygoers and those feeling nostalgic.

It's less humid. We can breathe. The pace slows without ever stopping. The island becomes what it truly is: authentic, relaxed, alive in a different way. Restaurants are more affordable. Taxis are cheaper. Hotels too. And yet, the energy is still there.

The weather: summer without the heatwave

September: 27–29°C in the afternoon, sea temperature 25–26°C, almost daily sunshine. It's actually the ideal month for the beach, as the water has retained all the summer's heat. October: 22–25°C during the day, sea temperature 22–23°C until mid-October. Evenings cool down slightly; a light jacket is enough for dining on a terrace. Hotel and rental prices drop by 30 to 50% compared to August. This is when a weekend in Ibiza becomes affordable again.

Sunset at the end of the season: finally at dinnertime

In the height of summer, the sun sets in Ibiza around 9:15 pm, forcing you to choose between sunset drinks and dinner. This problem disappears in September and October, and the light is completely transformed.

DateSunset (approx.)
September 1st≈ 8:20 PM
September 15≈ 8pm
October 1st≈ 7:45 PM
October 15≈ 7:30 PM
October 25 (winter time)≈ 7:15 PM

In Bambino, in September, the sun sets behind a rock, and it's even more beautiful. The sky is softer, the colors warmer. The terrace is bathed in a lovely golden hue. It's summer beginning to pack its bags. Less crowded too, you can breathe more freely, take the time to truly observe.

Our advice: arrive around 7 p.m. for a Negroni or a Spritz at the bar while the sky turns orange, then sit down to eat when the sun touches the sea. It's the formula our regulars look forward to all year round. And the autumn light is different: lower, more golden, without the heat haze of summer.

Bambino Ibiza closes on October 3rd: why come before then?

Closing a seasonal restaurant is a strange feeling. It's filled with nostalgia, fatigue, a desire for it to be over, and yet an immense fear of what comes next. We've made so many wonderful connections. Lives have sometimes been changed because of these encounters. The place has lived, and will suddenly become empty and silent.

But we'll come back even stronger next season. That's the promise we make to ourselves every year.

Bambino Ibiza closes its doors on October 3, 2026. There are still a few weeks left to experience it: the golden terrace in September, Italian cuisine overlooking the sea, cocktails at sunset. The last weeks of a season are often the best.

What you eat and drink at Bambino before closing time

For a perfect last night at Bambino, here's what I personally recommend:

We begin with crispy artichokes, beef carpaccio, and focaccia, perfect for sharing, in the spirit of a traditional Italian meal. For the main course, we have linguine with lemon cream, a house specialty, accompanied by Angus beef tagliata with potatoes and broccoli. To finish, the tiramisu is prepared tableside, a visual spectacle in itself that we never tire of watching. And to drink: a glass of Prosecco to start, followed by Le Rosa, our rose syrup cocktail, perfect for enjoying the last rays of the sunset.

What is there to do in Ibiza in October besides the closing parties?

For those who come for the island more than for the clubs, the end of the season is a gift:

Es Vedrà at sunset from the Torre des Savinar, without the 200 cars of summer. A day trip by boat to Formentera, calm seas, crystal-clear waters, less crowded boats. The hike to Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta from San Antonio, with a swim at the end. The hippie market in Las Dalias on Saturdays, in its peaceful and authentic version. Dalt Vila in the early morning, the UNESCO-listed old town almost empty, all to yourself. And a leisurely lunch by the pool—because in October, no one chases you off your sun lounger.

The perfect itinerary for a closing weekend in San Antonio

Friday

At 2 p.m., lunch and afternoon at Bambino's pool club —fresh pasta, Rosa cocktails, and the last sunbath of the season. At 7 p.m., a glass of Prosecco at the bar while watching the golden sunset. At 8 p.m., dinner on the terrace: crispy artichokes, linguine, and tiramisu prepared tableside. And at 11:30 p.m., off to Ushuaia, Hï, or UNVRS in 30 minutes by taxi—or Eden, a 10-minute walk if the night is just beginning.

SATURDAY

A well-deserved lie-in, then off to Cala Conta or Cala Bassa, just 15 minutes away. Sunset on the Sunset Strip in the late afternoon, a late dinner, then the closing of your choice — the night belongs to the partygoers.

Sunday

Late brunch, a stroll through the backstreets of Dalt Vila, and one last sunset in San Antonio — the one you never forget.

Practical tips for the end of the season in Ibiza

Book your restaurant and hotel for the weekend of October 2nd to 5th at least two weeks in advance—it's the last major peak season of the year. Check the opening hours of everything you want to do, as they change almost weekly in October. Pack a light sweater for evenings by the sea. Car rental is very affordable at this time of year, with prices dropping significantly—ideal for exploring the north of the island. And as for flights, direct connections from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Geneva, and Brussels are still available until the end of October at fares much lower than in the summer.

FAQ – Ibiza in September and October 2026: all your questions

Is Ibiza worth visiting in October?

Yes, especially the first two weeks: 23–25°C, sea at 22°C, exceptional closing parties, lower prices, and an island that has regained its peaceful and authentic feel. It's the favorite month for many regulars—less humid, more breathable, more genuine. Restaurants are more affordable, taxis cheaper, and the beaches finally regain their natural beauty.

When does the season end in Ibiza in 2026?

The major clubs close between September 28 and October 12, 2026 (Circoloco at DC-10 closes on October 12). Beach clubs and most seaside restaurants close between mid-October and the end of October. Bambino Ibiza closes on October 3, 2026.

Is it still possible to swim in Ibiza in October?

Yes. The sea temperature is 22–23°C until mid-October, often warmer than in June. The beaches are quieter, and the coves are accessible without the crowds. It's one of the great surprises of the end of the Ibiza season for those who have never experienced it.

What time does the sun set in Ibiza in October?

Around 7:30 pm in early October, 7:10 pm in mid-October, and then around 5:55 pm after the switch to winter time on October 25th. The advantage of this period: the sunset finally falls at dinnertime—you can enjoy the sunset and dine on the patio without having to choose. The autumn light is also more golden and softer than in summer.

Which restaurants are open in San Antonio in October?

Bambino Ibiza welcomes you until October 3, 2026, for lunch, pool club, and dinner while watching the sunset. Several venues on the Sunset Strip remain open until mid-October. We recommend making a reservation, especially for the closing weekend from October 2 to 5, which is the last major peak of the season.

Do you need to book a table for dinner facing the sunset at the end of the season?

Yes — tables on the terrace with sunset views remain the most sought-after, even in September. And on the weekend of October 2nd to 5th, when all the major clubs close simultaneously, San Antonio is particularly lively. Book at least a week in advance to ensure you get a table overlooking the sea.

What is the best time to visit Ibiza outside of the summer?

September and October are the best months to discover Ibiza in a different light. The weather is still summery, prices are lower, and the island regains its authenticity and natural rhythm. June is also excellent for the same reasons. These two periods allow you to experience Ibiza without the pressure and overcrowding of July and August.

How to get to Ibiza in October 2026?

Direct flights from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Geneva, and Brussels are still available until the end of October, with fares often significantly lower than in the summer. Car rental is also very attractive at this time of year—prices drop considerably, making it the perfect time to explore the north of the island and its unspoiled coves.
